WHO IS Jesus?
I preached this message for the first time more than 35 years ago, and while preparing it then, the text was so powerful it was the impetus for a life of seeking the Kingdom of Christ and the understanding of the implications of Christ being King - now.

COMMENTARY
OF I PETER 2 AND ROMANS 12 & 13 - We must know the difference between
the Power of God and the powers of darkness.
PLEASE LOOK AT THIS:
I Peter 2:13
This is the way it reads in the - Geneva Bible (The Bible of the Pilgrims) printed in 1599:
Therefore submit your selves unto all manner of ordinance of man for the Lords sake, whether it be unto the King, as unto the superior...
This is how it reads in the - First edition 1611 King James printed in 1611:
Submit your selves to every ordinance of man for the Lords sake, whether it be to the King, as supreme....
This is how it reads in the modern - 7th edition King James Bible (the one that most of us have been raised on):
Submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord's sake, whether it be to the king, as supreme....
Do you see the difference? It is subtle - but HUGE. In fact, the change that is made over the 500 years HAS CHANGED THE ENTIRE MEANING OF THE BIBLE. Please, please read the commentary on Romans 12 & 13 for more details on what is discussed concerning this.
NOTICE THE CAPITALIZATION OF THE WORD KING. Five hundred years ago, KING WAS CAPITALIZED. Today, it is not.
For the Pilgrims, five hundred years ago - JESUS was the King in I Peter 2:13.
Today, the "preachers" tell the people that the "king" of I Peter 2 is symbolic for the "governments" of men today. Knowingly or unknowingly, someone has "changed the truth of God into a lie."

We are completely blown away by the fact that there is a rising number of people who call themselves "christians" who believe that the Bible is silent on the issue of gambling and since the word is not in the Bible, it must be ok to gamble.

A CAVEAT AGAINST INJUSTICE, or an inquiry into the evils of a fluctuating Medium of Exchange
This is one of the very few things found in the U.S. CONstitution that can be traced to the Scriptures. Roger Sherman, the only man to sign all four fundamental documents of the U.S. wrote this treatise AGAINST what he believed to be the most evil devise facing the fledgling country - paper money. He said two things were destroying their civilization, in this order, paper money and the importation of rum. I am not totally sure this is word for word his original text. I have a copy of the original - but at this time - cannot seem to find it. When I do, I will get it uploaded. What I have here is something I found on the Internet.

This is an excellent resource for understanding the definitions of the Greek words as they were used at the time of Christ. Mr. Thayer references Greek writings that were either during the time of Christ or before to give most of his definitions. This dictionary is not as easy to navigate as Strong's Concordance, but with some earnest study and hard work - you can find the words you are looking for and some of the understandings will be priceless.

Most Christian churches hold to a set of beliefs that incorporate what they call a “philosophy of government.” Some denominations go so far as to include human government in their confession of faith.
One at least, the “FourSquare” denomination, actually incorporates government as one of the four “squares” or pillars of their existence. Other churches have been directly created by and remain under overall government control. Many supposedly independent churches exist under special state privilege, state funding or a tax exemption not enjoyed by their members – in return for reporting to the state, keeping quiet on sensitive subjects, and complying with various requirements.

This is an email that was sent to us by a reader from Australia. He is saying that a more proper rendering of I Peter is that it is a command that we "subject all mankind to the ordinances of our King." This is basically the same thing we are saying, but from a different angle. Very interesting. Highly recommended reading.
